THE WAY IT WAS – IRONRITE

This was a very special Ironrite machine.  Most were metal and plain.  An Ironrite machine was most helpful because one had to iron linens,  clothes,  and tablecloths, napkins.  You could sit in a chair and the big roller could lift  with a touch of a button or a knee press and down again.   It was a  luxury to have an Ironrite.  

Antique Eastlake Furniture Parlor Three Piece Set

Geometric and modest curves are in this furniture designed by an architect named Charles Eastlake 1870 to 1890.  This was a different approach to furniture production of the Victorian period which was high relief carving and numerous curves.  There is some influence of Renaissance and medieval features.  This set has been re-upholstered probably in the 60’s or 70’s with colors and material popular in that time.  Front and back of pieces are shown.
